Many couples only dream of vows with an incredible ocean view. They fantasize about a destination wedding complete with aqua water, gorgeous green palm trees and toes in the sand. This dream can come at an extremely high price when done in a traditional venue on the beach.
Luckily, there is a way to get your dream wedding and also make it an incredible vacation for your guests... get married on a cruise ship! The options for getting married while on vacation are endless.
You may opt to get married before your ship leaves its home port. This option will allow guests who can not actually go on their cruise itinerary still attend your wedding onboard and then disembark before the ship leaves.
Another option, if all your VIP guests are able to cruise, is to get married while at sea. Often this means having the ceremony and reception held inside one of the ships many locations such as the night club, the chapel, or on one of the decks.
Your third option is to get married in a port of call. This could mean you get married on a beautiful beach in the Bahamas or on a glacier in Alaska. This option can still work for guests who prefer not to cruise but are willing to travel to the destination.
The best part? Wedding held by cruise lines are as much as 50% cheaper than tradition weddings and that includes your cruise ticket price!

One tip for having a destination wedding onboard a cruise ship is to set up an online registry on sites such as Amazon.com. This allows guests who are attending to opt to ship their gifts to your home instead of having to bring the extra stuff onboard. It also allows guests who are unable to attend to mail you gifts to honor your vows.
If I had it to do all over again, I certainly would have opted to have a wedding onboard a cruise! No worries though, because cruise lines also offer vow-renewal ceremonies too!
Kellman and I plan to do a trans-Atlantic cruise and have our vows renewed on that journey in March of 2020!
